January/February
Chinese New Year celebration - Various activities will take place this week to look into Chinese custom of the new year & culture behind.
February
Parents Meetings and Shrove Tuesday: Children will learn the age-appropriate meaning behind Shove Tuesday and they will participate in making pancakes with healthy sweet and savoury toppings, tying in with our healthy eat programme and practicing their cooking skills.
March
Mother’s Day Event: Children will have prepared a short performance for the occasion and also some lovely surprises for Mother’s Day.
World book week celebration: Celebration of authors, illustrators, books and the joy of reading. Children are encouraged to bring in one of their favourite books from home which they will then share with their peer group during the week. This is a great opportunity for children to practise their literacy and communication skills as well as understanding of the order of events. Dress up as a character from your favourite book on 7th March to conclude the celebrations for the week.
April
Easter Trail in Marble Hill Park (collaborated with English Heritage):
Children will create large art pieces with Easter theme and will display those in Marble Hill Park for the park visitors to enjoy
Summer Tennis Lessons Begin: Our older group of children is set to embark on their journey of professional tennis coaching in the Tennis Court of Marble Hill Park. This exciting initiative offers a wonderful opportunity for skill development and outdoor enjoyment during the summer months..
May
Science Week: Focused learning and experiences in Science projects, each year with a different theme to aim to bring the wonders and excitement into children’s journey of learning about Science.
June
Parents meetings and school transition events: As a part of getting children school ready and help our nursery children who are moving to schools in the coming September to be prepared, A lot of work will take place such as liaison with school, arrange class teacher’s visit, sharing information, group discussion about the changes to come, as well as exciting activities to help children to look forward to the journey ahead.
July
Summer Party: Including children’s performance, sports event, and graduation ceremony.
October
Parents Meeting and Halloween Art Display/Halloween Trail in MHP (collaborated with English Heritage): Our children will enjoy the fun project of creating different art pieces with the theme of Halloween for display in the woodland of Marble Hill Park to celebrate Halloween festival.
November
Armistice Commemoration/Children participation in Remembrance Service (collaborated with English Heritage): This is a community event organised by English Heritage. Our children will give a short performance during the service and will present a wreath which will be made by the children themselves for the fallen heroes. Parents are invited for the Service.
December
Christmas Carol in the Park (collaborated with English Heritage): This event is a heart-warming occasion that unites our Mandarin Ducklings community - encompassing children, parents, grandparents, and staff - to inaugurate the Christmas festivities at the onset of December. It's a cherished gathering that marks the beginning of our Christmas celebrations, filled with joy, music, and togetherness.
Christmas Show and After Party: Our Christmas Show is traditionally held in the stunning St. Stephen’s Church. It's a time where we joyfully showcase our Christmas production, honouring the children's achievements alongside their parents as we draw the year to a close. The event culminates in a delightful after-party gathering, allowing everyone to revel in the festive spirit together.
